Alliance members are in the Region L study area for the state’s water planning program.  The Region L planning group has identified future water needs for this region and developed an extensive list of projects that can meet these needs for the next 50 years.

Regional Highlights:

  • Approximately 10% of the state's total population resides in Region L

  • 436,751 AF of additional supply is needed by 2060

  • Implementing all the water management strategies recommended in the approved Region L plan would result in 765,738 AF of additional water supplies in 2060.

There are numerous standards that Regions go through to get water supply options approved in the state water plan.  Water projects must be in the state plan for communities to receive permits and low interest funding.  This section includes the current Region L water plan and also the groundwater management areas (GMA’s)
